RSS (Description)

The RSS on the side of the blog do not talk about lesson plans, however, they do talk about different books that are good for children to read and gives a brief introduction to the books. Teachers can listen to this podcast and pick out books that they might want their students to read or that the class can read together and then discuss. Reading books to the class or having them read is a fun and interesting way for children to learn.

What to consider when writing a lesson plan

Some things to take into account while creating your own lesson plan are: 1.Content 2. Goals 3. Objectives/materials 4. Introduction 5. Development 6. Practice 7. Independent Practice 8. Accommodations 9. Checking for Understanding 10. Closure 11. Evaluation and 12. Teacher Reflection. A good Lesson Plan should include all 12 of these.

Lesson plans: Short or Long

What is important to remember is how you the teacher work. If you are the type of person who can remember things with little or no detail than your lesson plan may be shorter than average. On the other hand you may be a person who can not remember things unless there is a lot of detail. In this case your lesson plan may be a bit longer and more detailed than average. Also, teachers need to make sure that they can get through the entire lesson plan within the amount of time allotted. Keep in mind as well that your lesson plan may have been designed differently than the next teachers but that does not mean that your lesson plan is bad. The important thing in creating a lesson plan is making sure you the teacher understands it. If the teacher does not understand then how are the children going to learn?

Variety and Lesson Plans

Another important thing to remember is to add variety to lesson plans. While children need repetition in order to retain information they also need variety. Children will get board doing the same thing over and over again and will soon loose interest. Try to incorporate a variety of activities to help their learning such as a coloring sheet, writing, acting something out, etc.
